John Eagle European and Aston Martin to Unveil New DBS Volante in Austin

John Eagle European will debut the dazzling new Aston Martin DBS Volante to Austin during an exclusive event at Paggi House on Sept. 18, 2009. The occasion is part of a series of launch activities taking place throughout North America for the luxury sports car brand's new flagship model and 16th convertible in the company's history. John Eagle European offers fine automobiles by Aston, Bentley and Lotus.

"We’re proud to represent Aston Martin and we very much look forward to previewing the DBS Volante with our customers here in the beautiful hill country,” said Sonny Morgan, dealer principal at John Eagle European. “Our launch event will give clientele from across the area an opportunity to experience the DBS Volante's perfect combination of engineering excellence and design perfection."

The DBS Volante fuses race-bred technology and design excellence with the sensation of open-air motoring. According to Aston Martin Chief Executive Officer Dr. Ulrich Bez, “The DBS Volante delivers the utmost relaxed driving experience with the hood up or down. It combines engineering excellence with design perfection. The DBS Volante offers a subtle mix of power and performance. Adding to this, the fine craftsmanship – it is an unparalleled ownership and driving experience.”

“Volante”, which means “moving with light rapidity,” perfectly defines the performance potential and the dynamic characteristics of the car. In standard specification, the DBS has a rear-mounted six-speed manual gearbox; an automatic six-speed Touchtronic option is optional. As with the coupe, the Volante comes with carbon ceramic brakes, which provides exceptional stopping power. The bonnet, front wings and trunk lid are made from carbon fiber to reduce weight.

Featuring a power retractable fabric roof, the DBS's beautiful profile is preserved whether up or down. When the roof is closed, it provides a warm, comfortable ambience and when open, it neatly disappears behind the new tonneau cover.

Power is provided by Aston Martin's hand-built V12 engine producing 510 BHP and 420 foot pounds of torque; the car has a top speed of 191 mph. The nature of the V12, and in particular the torque available at all engine speeds, serves to provide effortless driving in all situations.

The DBS Volante is a 2+2 featuring two occasional rear seats, ideal for younger persons or extra luggage. The DBS Volante also comes with Bang & Olufsen's renowned “BeoSound DBS” in-car entertainment system, featuring 13 speakers as standard equipment. The BeoSound DBS has been expertly tuned by Bang & Olufsen's Tonmeisters and Aston Martin's acoustic engineers specifically for the Volante, resulting in a system that senses when the roof has been retracted and adjusts the sound stage to compensate for extra wind noise, providing an unrivalled automotive audio experience.

The charming Paggi House is a historic Austin landmark dating back to the 1840s. Nestled in a grove of trees along West Riverside Drive, the restaurant is warm and sophisticated, yet relaxed and fun. A recent extensive expansion and modernization has preserved the original character of the home. The Paggi House features an elegant, contemporary atmosphere outdoors and an intimate dining experience within. This Austin hotspot is famous for an innovative drink menu, wine list and eclectic fine food created by Culinary Institute of America graduate and renowned chef, Shane Stark.

“Paggi House is the ultimate spot to connect with friends over cocktails or share an intimate dinner with someone special,” added Morgan. “With its uniquely Austin atmosphere, it’s the perfect spot to experience the ultimate Aston.”

The Aston Martin range of handcrafted high performance cars include the flagship DBS, elegant DB9 and iconic V8 Vantage. It was the 36th Aston Martin dealership to open in North America.
