Aston Martin Drops the Top: The New Vanquish Volante

The new Vanquish Volante offers an unparalleled driving experience. It has all of the dynamic performance and world-leading design of the coupe, but adds the thrill of open top driving. While the statistics speak for themselves (the Vanquish Volante zips from 0-60 mph in four seconds and posts a 183 mph top speed), driving experience alone firmly places it in super car territory.
Visually, the Volante is virtually identical to the
hardtop Vanquish, save for its rear deck and roof structure. The triple-layered
top slides beneath a tonneau cover in 14 seconds flat at speeds of up to 30
mph; it can do the reverse in the same amount of time and up to the same speed.
“The beautiful, sleek lines are only a small part of
the new Volante’s magnificence,” said Sonny Morgan, dealer principal at Aston
Martin of Austin. “You must get behind the wheel to truly understand
the brilliance of the new Vanquish. The deep roar of the unleashed V12 thrills
as it catapults you down hill country roads or glides across Congress Avenue.”
While
the engine’s 565 horsepower and 457 lb-ft of torque might feel the same as in
the coupe, the Volante delivers Aston’s signature V-12 sound at a gloriously
higher volume. Big Brembo carbon-ceramic disc brakes at all four corners help
haul the Volante down from speed, and Aston’s Adaptive Damping System (ADS)
handles the body-control. The ADS also provides drivers three selectable ride
modes: Normal, Sport and Track.
Aston
Martin Design Director Marek Reichman explained, “Vanquish Volante is a sports
car, but more even than that it’s the ultimate Volante. The aerodynamically
shaped tonneau, the proportions of the folding fabric roof, the luxurious
nature of the cabin – these elements have been pored over by the design team to
ensure we deliver the aesthetic appeal for which Aston Martin is renowned
around the world.”
As with all Aston Martins, the perfect balance, high
performance stability and nimble handling define the Vanquish Volante,
underlining the car’s credentials as a truly innovative machine.
