Aston Martin’s Powerful New Performer: The V12 Vantage S

When Aston Martin rocked the world with the introduction of the V12 Vantage S, many enthusiasts wondered how the car would fit into the company’s line up. With just a 3.7 second to sprint from 0-60 mph and a top speed of 205 mph, Aston Martin’s most extreme sports car, the new V12 Vantage S, is the fastest accelerating production car in the company’s line-up.

The V12 Vantage was an unprecedented engineering achievement and one of the company’s most revered cars, said Sonny Morgan, dealer principal at Aston Martin of Austin. “Combining a V12 engine with their lightest sports-car created a package of pure aggression.  Many were disappointed when the car ceased production. But Aston didn’t stop there. The built an even lighter chassis, then added an even more powerful engine with an even more responsive transmission. V12 Vantage S is the most ferocious Aston Martin ever produced.”

The Vantage S proves its position as the brand’s fastest accelerating production car, as well as the most potent Vantage in Aston Martin’s glittering century-long history. Equipped with the innovative 565 HP 6.0 liter V12 engine, featuring the latest in engine management technology, the car is capable of reaching a top speed of 205 mph.

“The new V12 Vantage S brings our winning GT3 race formula to the road,” said Aston Martin CEO Dr Ulrich Bez. “It’s a car for those customers who want superior sporting performance in a ‘gentleman’s suit’. It’s the most pure, yet understated, driving machine we can imagine today.”

With 460 ft. lbs. of torque available at 5,750 rpm, the V12 Vantage S is as flexible as it is powerful. All that muscle is supplied to the rear wheels through the new Sportshift III Automatic Manual Transmission to ensure the car boasts true sporting driveability.

The Vantage S is equipped with technology that allows drivers to accurately tune its ride and handling. Three-stage adaptive damping allows the driver to precisely tailor the car’s dynamic character and exploit its clear performance potential. ‘Normal’, ‘Sport’ and ‘Track’ modes provide a broad swathe of dynamic capabilities, while the system also governs the level of power steering assistance offered.

"We’re pleased to offer Aston Martin’s new blisteringly fast flagship model, alongside the ultimate grand touring Vanquish Volante in Central Texas,” noted Morgan. “Since we continue to be one of the most successful Aston Martin dealerships the U.S, two of these beautiful new cars are already available to our customers.”

Aston Martin Drops the Top: The New Vanquish Volante

The new Vanquish Volante offers an unparalleled driving experience. It has all of the dynamic performance and world-leading design of the coupe, but adds the thrill of open top driving. While the statistics speak for themselves (the Vanquish Volante zips from 0-60 mph in four seconds and posts a 183 mph top speed), driving experience alone firmly places it in super car territory.

Visually, the Volante is virtually identical to the hardtop Vanquish, save for its rear deck and roof structure. The triple-layered top slides beneath a tonneau cover in 14 seconds flat at speeds of up to 30 mph; it can do the reverse in the same amount of time and up to the same speed.

“The beautiful, sleek lines are only a small part of the new Volante’s magnificence,” said Sonny Morgan, dealer principal at Aston Martin of Austin. “You must get behind the wheel to truly understand the brilliance of the new Vanquish. The deep roar of the unleashed V12 thrills as it catapults you down hill country roads or glides across Congress Avenue.”

While the engine’s 565 horsepower and 457 lb-ft of torque might feel the same as in the coupe, the Volante delivers Aston’s signature V-12 sound at a gloriously higher volume. Big Brembo carbon-ceramic disc brakes at all four corners help haul the Volante down from speed, and Aston’s Adaptive Damping System (ADS) handles the body-control. The ADS also provides drivers three selectable ride modes: Normal, Sport and Track.

Aston Martin Design Director Marek Reichman explained, “Vanquish Volante is a sports car, but more even than that it’s the ultimate Volante. The aerodynamically shaped tonneau, the proportions of the folding fabric roof, the luxurious nature of the cabin – these elements have been pored over by the design team to ensure we deliver the aesthetic appeal for which Aston Martin is renowned around the world.”

As with all Aston Martins, the perfect balance, high performance stability and nimble handling define the Vanquish Volante, underlining the car’s credentials as a truly innovative machine.
